Mount Longonot is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, Africa. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860s. Its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges”

From Nairobi or Naivasha back to Nairobi.

Departure Time

Depart at 6:00am from Nairobi and 7:00am from Naivasha.

What to Expect

As you approach you realise that the mountain looks quite green and large.

This creates awareness for prepararion with comfortable shoes, cloths, skin protection lotions an energy drink, Hats and snacks are encouraged, a raincoat maybe necessary on a wet day. Hiking sticks are available for sale as well refill bottles which are needed to drain water after you purchase. An extra pair of cloths are necessary for a change after the hike.

Itinerary

Day 1Hiking Mt. Longonot

We pick guests at 6:00am make headways to Mt. Longonot National park we recommend a packed breakfast  or light break at the entrance resturant, in prepararion have comfortable shoes and cloths, skin protection lotions, an energy drink, Hats and snacks are encouraged, a raincoat maybe necessary on a wet day. Hiking sticks are available for sale as well refill bottles which are needed to drain water after you purchase. An extra pair of cloths are necessary for a change after the hike.

The entrance fee is 20usd for Non residents, and Ksh 200 for Citizens. 7am to 8am are the best times to start the hike and avoid the Hot Sun which is tough during the climb.

The guests may choose to join groups asscending as there clear trails. Solo travellers will be recommended to have a guide at an extra fee and make the hike interesting. The hike is long and moderately difficult this tests your health levels and endurance. It make take 3 hours or more hours to go round the summit and may have stops at different intervals.

There resturants near the entrance where drinks and breakfast and meals can be prepared. Hot and cold showers are available at ksh 100 for cold showers and ksh 200 for hot showers. This will keep you refreshed and ready to head back.
